Wi-Fi Access at the District of Columbia Public Library
Public wireless network access (Wi-Fi) is available at all locations of the District of Columbia Public Library. Wi-Fi (short for wireless fidelity) uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive data over limited distances. Following is information about the DC Public Library’s Wi-Fi and acceptable uses in our “hot spots.”
Connecting to the Wireless Internet Network
Connecting to the network requires a laptop computer with a wireless Internet card that supports the WiFi standard (also known as IEEE 802.11b/g).

Configure your computer to automatically accept an IP address.

Right click My Network Places/Network Neighborhood.
Finding Library Hot Spots
To find the Library’s hot spots, click on your wireless icon in the taskbar:
If no icon is present:

Click Start, Settings, then Network Connections.

Right click wireless Network Connection, then click View Available Wireless Networks (a list of wireless access points appears in the Available Networks box)

Click the Public wireless connection

Click Connect.
