Established in 1905, the Washingtoniana Division of the District of Columbia Public Library is one of the finest local history collections of all the nation’s public libraries. Washingtoniana’s continuing mission to collect and make available material related to the District of Columbia.

    We encourage all residents of the District of Columbia to help our division to continue to grow by donating materials such as high school yearbooks, photographs, community and civic origination materials, church programs, etc. We need your help to document and preserve the history of the District of Columbia.
