New DC Public Library Hours Take Effect Monday, October 5

October 2, 2009

Beginning Monday, October 5, the DC Public Library’s hours will change at all locations. Library service will continue to be offered seven days a week. The hour changes include:

Neighborhood libraries:
  • Closed on Sundays beginning October 11

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library:

  • Open on Sundays from 1pm to 5 pm all year
  • Closed on Monday and Tuesday mornings, opening instead from noon to 9 pm

The Library’s hours changed in order to operate within the District’s FY2010 budget, which was reduced by nearly 11 percent, or $4.8 million from the FY2009 budget.
